Listen: New music from Mt St Helens Vietnam Band

Warm Body by mshvb

It’s been a little while since Mt St Helens Vietnam Band has made noise in Seattle which is why I was pleasantly surprised to find a note from MSHVB singer Benjamin Verdoes i my inbox earlier today. The note was addressed to a few select local music media folks and it included a link to a new song from the band called “Warm Body.”

It is a wonderfully delicate song off the band’s upcoming Prehistory EP which is set for release later this year. The band’s debut record merged indie rock of the Built to Spill vein with some excellent prog leanings and MSHVB’s second record, 2010’s Where the Messengers Meet, showcased a bit more of a direct approach to songwriting. Give “Warm Body” a listen above and you’ll find that it is a refreshing departure from past MSHVB material.

You can see Mt St Helens Vietnam Band (and likely hear the rest of what Prehistory has to offer) at Neumos April 5 when they perform with former Seattleites Throw Me the Statue and Catalado (8 p.m., $10). Tickets can be purchased here.
