Hear new music from Blake Lewis

It’s been a while since Blake Lewis, one of Seattle’s few pop stars, has released new music. His first record, A.D.D. (Audio Day Dream) was released in 2007  on Arista Records and cracked the Billboard top 10 thanks in part to his success on American Idol. In 2009 he released  Heartbreak on Vinyl on Tommy Boy Records and while that record did okay on the dance charts, it didn’t translate too well in regards to what many would consider mainstream success.

Lewis, who will likely forever have the label “American Idol runner-up” attached to his name, recently inked his third record deal and this time he is working with Republic Records. He is gearing up to release his third full-length album, Portrait of a Chameleon, later this spring and it looks like it might be a case of third time’s the charm for the beatboxing pop singer.

Republic is great choice for Lewis because the label is going through a recent surge of success having released records by the likes of Gotye, Drake, Florence and the Machine and Alex Clare. That last name is the artist that comes closest to matching what Lewis’s new album might sound like. Give “Your Touch,” the first single off Portrait of a Chameleon,  a listen above and hear a glimpse of what could be Lewis’ big breakthrough album.
