Capitol Hill Block Party 2022 lineup announced

Organizers for the Capitol Hill Block Party announced the lineup for this year’s edition of the three-day event earlier this morning. Keeping with the festival’s lineup features a mix of national headlining acts, buzzy bands and local talent with Diplo, Charli XCX, Jai Wolf and 100 Gecs at the top of the bill.

This year’s festival, which is scheduled for July 22-24, will be the first since 2019. The 2020 edition of the festival was canceled due to safety concerns surrounding Covid and the 2021 version of the festival suffered the same fate.

However, Block Party will not be the first major outdoor music festival to happen in the city during the pandemic, nor will it be Block Party organizers’ first time producing a music festival during the pandemic. Last summer they put on the inaugural Day In Day Out festival. The successful event attracted thousands to Seattle Center during Labor Day weekend and is scheduled to return to Seattle Center Aug. 13-14.

Prior to the pandemic, the festival was under scrutiny by the city with some area businesses and residents unhappy with the strain the festival puts on the neighborhood during its three-day community takeover. Festival organizers have been working to mend those relationships and this year’s festival will likely have a more inclusive community vibe compared to than previous years.

Along with the headliners, other notable artists scheduled to perform include Danny Brown, Toro Y Moi, Beach Bunny, Tokimonsta and Remi Wolf. The local talent is a mix of known acts that have been making noise in the local scene for years and newer artists. Some standouts include The Grizzled Mighty, Brent Amaker and the Rodeo, The Black Tones, King Youngblood, Enumclaw and Linda From Work.

Tickets for this year’s Block Party range in price from $150 to $220 for a standard three-day pass to $300 to $370 for a three-day VIP pass. The VIP passes include three drink tickets per day, access to two VIP lounges, dinner from Capitol Hill restaurant Poquitos and other perks.

In past years Block Party headliners have included The Dead Weather, Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, Odesza, Run The Jewels, Brockhampton and Lizzo. View this year’s full lineup below.
