THING 2022 brings Modest Mouse, Jungle, Sparks, Goose, Father John Misty & more

The Seattle area’s newest major music festival, Thing, announced its lineup today and it features a diverse array of programming and genres including comedy, dance, podcasts and of course lots of music.

The three-day festival, which began in 2019 and was postponed the last two years due to pandemic precautions, is being held Aug. 26-28 at the 432-acre Fort Warden State Park in Port Townsend. Its lineup is filled with Pacific Northwest flavoring with former Seattle mainstays Modest Mouse and Father John Misty serving as two of its headliners. Other notable headliners include hip-hop powerhouse Freddie Gibbs, rising jam band stars Goose, electronic artist Jungle and art rockers Sparks.

Along with those bigger names, the festival will host several exciting local artists such as The Delvon Lamar Organ Trio, Enumclaw, Shaina Shepard and perhaps most exactingly an event called PNW Future of Hip-Hop Spotlight. The lineup also features comedy with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog around to poke fun at things, artist workshops and lectures as well as live podcast tapings covering theater and the arts.

The festival’s full lineup is below. Tickets for THING go on sale Feb. 25. More information about the event can be found on the THING website.
