The Flaming Lips to play ‘Yoshimi’ in full at Woodland Park Zoo

The fearless freaks from Oklahoma known as The Flaming Lips are celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots” this year and part of the celebration includes a tour where the band will perform the album in its entirety along with a set of greatest hits.

The band is known for its vivacious live shows that can include giant balloons, lasers, foam, confetti and costumed dancers. There are no details on what the “Yoshimi” tour will include, but you can expect a concert experience similar to what the band has done in the past when the tour comes to Woodland Park Zoo Aug. 23 as part of the annual Zoo Tunes concert series.

Of course this isn’t the first time The Flaming Lips have performed at a zoo. The band famously performed at the Oklahoma City Zoo in 2006 and filmed the performance for the “U.F.O.s at the Zoo” DVD.

Tickets for The Flaming Lips’ performing “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots” go on sale March 3 at 10 a.m. along with tickets for all of the other Zoo Tunes concerts. View the full lineup of Zoo Tunes concerts below.
