Guerrilla Candy is turning 25 and having a rock ‘n’ roll party to celebrate

You guys, I’m getting old.

Twenty-five years ago my very first piece of music journalism was published. It was a review of U2’s Elevation tour published in the Shoreline Community College Ebbtide. Unfortunately, or fortunately if you’re me, that piece of work has been buried somewhere deep in the bowels of the Internet because I can’t find it anywhere.

Anyway, what I’m getting at is that I’ve been doing this whole music journalism/blogging/criticism thing for a very long time. And since 25 years is such a momentous occasion, I have decided to celebrate by throwing a little party and everyone is invited.

On August 22 Guerrilla Candy will be taking over the Tractor Tavern in Ballard with a night of local rock ‘n’ roll you won’t want to miss. Here are the details:

Guerrilla Candy’s 25th Anniversary Party
Featuring
The return of SHIM
Smoker Dad
and
Special Guests TBA
8 p.m. | Aug 22 | The Tractor Tavern | $20 adv, $25 day of show

That’s right, not only did I book Smoker Dad, one of the best boogie rock bands in Seattle, I also got my friends in SHIM to reunite for their first show in more than 10 years. Oh, and I managed to get some “Special Guests” on the bill too. But I can’t quite talk about that yet. Just know that if you’ve followed me for the past few years these “Special Guests” are a group I’ve championed quite a bit over the years.

Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but I’ll be sure to share a link to buy tickets (and announce the identity of the mysterious “Special Guests”) soon. So for now put a placeholder on your calendar for what’s sure to be a night filled with rock ‘n’ roll debauchery in Ballard and I’ll see you on Aug. 22.
